13 Tattoos Richmond

So you want a $13 tattoo in Richmond, do you? Generally speaking, when it comes to tattoos quality is better than quantity. But we can’t all be millionaires can we? Or, well, gainfully employed for that matter. So some of our local Richmond tattoo shops have taken it upon themselves to provide you, their underemployed or under-funded would-be patron, with a solution you’ll be pleased with. Welcome to $13 tattoo Friday.

Celebrate Friday the 13th with a $13 Tattoo

Any other time of the year, if someone offered us a $13 tattoo, we’d look at them with extreme suspicion and slowly back away (without breaking eye contact). Maybe this time its different. The $13 tattoo offer is more of a one-time promotion intended to stir up new business rather than an ongoing offering at the participating tattoo shops. So with that in mind, let’s talk about what exactly a $13 tattoo entails and where you can get yours this Friday the 13th.

How to get your $13 tattoo in Richmond, VA

In years past, there were a number of tattoo shops that participated. This year it’s slim. The only tattoo shops in Richmond that will be participating in the $13 tattoo Friday this coming Friday, June 13th, are:

  • All for One Tattoo (They’re also offering a piercing special, in addition to their sweet Sugar Shack deal)
  • 212 Tattoo -Friday the 13th Themed tattoos only (Sorry kids, you gotta pay a bit more for the cool stuff- but hell, it’ll be worth it.)
  • Lucky 13 (really, it’d be ridiculous if they didn’t)
  • K&B Tattooing IV – Is doing $13 tattoos + $7 required tip. $31 tattoos with $9 min tip also available. Special running from 11am to 9pm.
  • Classic Tattoo is also joining the fun.
  • Red Dragon Tattoo -(They offered a $13 special back in Sept, but we haven’t confirmed it for this week)

Yes, that’s it so far. We’ve sent inquiries out to a ton of tattoo shops in Richmond and so far, these are the only two tattoo shops participating. In years past, True Tattoo had participated, but decided not take part this year. No reasons were stated. We still have a bunch of inquiries out, so we recommend keeping a check here. We’ll update this list and post to Facebook as well if we get any additions to the roster. More Tattoo Info:VA Beach Tattoo Festival This Weekend

How Getting a $13 Tattoo Works in Richmond

Now, about this $13 tattoo. You’ve probably got some really cool (or half-baked crackpot) idea brewing for what you want to get. Well, knock that shit off. Here’s how it works: You show up to your chosen tattoo shop, you pick a piece of flash from one of their pre-approved flash sheets (full of flash chosen specifically for this promotion, I assure you) on the appointed day during regular shop hours. It’s first come, first serve and the party ends when the shop closes or when the shop owner has had enough and tells everyone to go home. Don’t expect a red carpet, you’re paying $13 for a tattoo. Speaking of that $13…

Why your $13 tattoo isn’t really $13

So far, the tattoo shops participating have made it clear that there will be a $7 tip added to the $13 tattoo price tag. That’s right, your $13 tattoo now costs $20. We realize that could be a deal-breaker for you. We’re quite sorry about that. The extra $7 goes to your tattoo artist who does this for a living and needs things like food, clothing, and shelter to sustain their lives and the lives of their families.

The true spirit of $13 tattoo Friday

If you want an outstanding, custom tattoo that you’ll treasure for years to come, then make an appointment. Save your money. Be prepared to pay the standard $100-150/hr that constitutes the going rate here in Richmond for amazing art by a skilled and experienced artist. A $13 tattoo is a promotional item. It’s a nice crumb some of our local tattoo shops throw out there to stir up new business. Some shops we’ve talked to have intimated a small (or not so small) amount of disdain for the practice, but it is what it is. We hope at the very least, that if you set out to get your $13 tattoo (err… $20 tattoo?), that you enjoy the shit out of it, then schedule an appointment for a real piece that can help support your chosen artist.

UPDATE:

All for One Tattoo has announced they will be doing $13 tattoos, but have added a $31 sheet of flash art to choose from as well as a $113 flash sheet. Sheeeeet man, that’s a lot of options. PLUS, their special deal with Sugar Shack
